Cut out varying lengths from the stomp brush with scissors. Look at the stomp brush and choose a section that is two inches from the edge. Clip this down several inches from the top. Continue by cutting out varying or symmetrical sections from the brush. This will create a high and low pattern when you apply the compound.
Remove sections of the brush with scissors. To create a wider pattern area, take sections of the brush and clip them with scissors all the way to the bottom. This will result in more space in between the stomped texture areas.
Clip the ends of the brush into varying angles with scissors. You can use a 45-degree angle, or even vary the angles used. This will give the stomped pattern more dimension. Grab a section of the brush and clip it to the desired angle. Take the next section and clip it in a different direction or a different angle.
