How to Cover a Fireproof Wall

A fireproof wall, more commonly known as a fire wall, is a protective barrier that occurs in some types of construction. It is often found separating apartments or townhomes, made from concrete or brick. While some may have standard drywall on top, in some cases, the fireproof wall is left exposed. To cover the fireproof wall from view, create a fabric or curtain wall.

Things You'll Need

  • Drill with masonry bit

Instructions

    • 1

Drill two pilot holes using a masonry bit. Create the pilot holes on the opposite top corners of the firewall to provide a space to install eye hooks.

    • 2

Fill each hole with epoxy and immediately insert an eye hook into each one. Turn the eye hooks so the hole is facing vertically. Allow the epoxy to dry overnight.

    • 3

Span a length of high-tension airplane wire between the two eye hooks. Fold the extra wire over on either side. Install a wire rope clip over the folded sections to tightly hold the wire in place.

    • 4

Measure the size of your fireproof wall and double the length. Remember the numbers for reference and cut a piece of fabric to the size. Hem the ends of the fabric with a sewing machine for a finished appearance.

    • 5

Attach the fabric piece to the wire using decorative curtain clips. Spread the fabric piece out so it completely covers your fireproof wall.
