Measure the width of the window with the tape measure. Add 2 inches to this measurement to determine the length of curtain rod you require.
Hold the mounting brackets for the curtain rod above the window, 1 inch to the diagonal left and right of the upper corners of the window. Make pencil marks through the holes in the brackets to designate where you will drill holes to install the curtain rod.
Drill pilot holes at the pencil marks. Hold the mounting brackets over the pilot holes and install the brackets with the screws included with the curtain rod.
Multiply width of the window by 1.5 to determine the width required for the sheers. Measure the length of the window from curtain rod to the point where you want the sheers to extend. Purchase sheers that match these measurements.
Insert the curtain rod through the rod pocket at the top edge of the sheers. Slide the sheers along the curtain rod evenly and place the rod on the mounting brackets.
Adjust the sheers to the right or left over the rod to make them neat and even.
