Measure the depth and height necessary housing your computer and its accessories with a measuring tape. Check these measurements against the available space inside the china cabinet ensuring you can use it for this purpose.
Pick the areas on the china cabinet that you want to use for the different computer parts, such as the modem, screen or a printer. This allows you to determine where to drill holes for the cables.
Remove one or both doors on the china cabinet by unscrewing the hinges with a screwdriver. Leave the doors on if you desire. Personal preference dictates whether removal is necessary.
Fill the holes left by the screws with a matching wood putty and a putty knife. Let the putty dry according to the directions on the container.
Add a wood auger bit to your power drill. Choose one that is suitable for cutting a 3-inch hole in the china cabinet’s back.
Cut the holes near the bottom of each section that requires cables to go through. This allows the printer, modem or other accessories to hide the opening.
Clean up any wood debris with a hand-held vacuum. Another option is using a crevice or brush attachment to get rid of the debris.
Insert any electrical cables from the equipment through the holes. Connect them to a power strip and surge protector.
