Spread a drop cloth across a wide, flat outdoor space. Place the old nightstand on top of the drop cloth.
Sand the nightstand. If the nightstand has a drawer, take the drawer out of the nightstand and remove the hardware with a screwdriver. Sand the front of the drawer.
Wipe down the nightstand with a tack cloth that is made to remove sawdust.
Fill an air gun paint sprayer with your base coat and spray the nightstand with one coat of paint. Allow the paint to dry completely. Wash out the paint gun bottle. Once the base coat is dry, fill the paint gun bottle with your top coat.
Apply a crackle medium finish to the entire nightstand using a wide paint brush.
Spray the nightstand with the top coat while the crackle medium is still wet. The paint will begin to crackle nearly immediately. Allow the paint to dry before putting the hardware back on the drawer and inserting the drawer into the nightstand.
