Teal blue can provide a striking accent on your walls, bringing life to your entire room. Frame artwork with plastic or painted wood frames in teal. Seascapes, landscapes or birds are subjects particularly well suited to a teal frame. Pictures that have touches of teal and other blue tones will look best. Drapes in teal, or in a neutral color with teal trim or patterns, are another way to bring color to your walls and windows.
For a dramatic look, cover your floor with a teal blue area rug. If that is too much of this vibrant color, look for a rug that has a pattern containing teal in smaller amounts mixed with neutral tan, cream or gray. An Oriental rug goes well with a traditional decor, a braided wood rug is at home with a country style and an abstract or geometric patterned rug will complement a modern decorating scheme. You can also bring in accent color with a few large floor cushions in teal. These are perfect for extra seating or lounging while watching television.
A sofa in any neutral color will be transformed from plain to dressed-up with a shot of teal. Look for teal throw pillows in textured fabrics such as velvet, satin, a furry or plush material or a woolen fabric. Accents such as sequins, embroidery or braided trim and tassels add to the look, or use pillows in neutral colors with a teal trim. Toss a vibrant teal throw blanket over the back of the couch for snuggling up on chilly nights.
Teal lends itself to many decorating accents around your room. Lamps with a teal base or lampshade bring all eyes to the table display. Look for pots for your plants in a solid or patterned teal. Candles in the blue-green color add romantic glow when lit at night. Collectibles such as vases, statues, decorative plates or bowls can add touches of bright color. A collection of ceramic or carved wooden birds is a nice way to add small shots of teal. Look for a figure of the common teal, the duck for which the color is named.
