Kashmir White Granite & Blue Slate Design Ideas

Granite and slate are natural stone materials that can add a striking look to many rooms in your home. The pairing of Kashmir white granite and blue slate in particular, however, creates the most eye-catching look, as the stones provide a bold contrast with one another. You can use the granite and slate tiles in your kitchen, bathroom, living room or dining room to create a variety of designs, depending on the style you prefer for the space.
  1. Checkerboard Backsplash

    • While there are many backsplash patterns with Kashmir white granite and blue slate that can give your kitchen a striking look, a checkerboard design provides the boldest look because the contrast between the tiles repeats across the entire surface. The checkerboard pattern is especially eye-catching with the granite and slate tiles not only because of the difference in color but because of the difference in texture, as well. It is also an easy pattern for do-it-yourselfers to tackle, as you simply alternate the tiles on the area behind your sink and stove. For a different look, place each type of tile in rows to create a striped effect for the backsplash.

    Bathroom Wall and Border

    • Tile is an ideal covering for bathroom walls because it holds up well in a moist environment. Using two different tiles like Kashmir white granite and blue slate is an ideal design because they add dimension and visual interest to the walls. However, in a small space like a bathroom, a checkerboard or striped pattern may overwhelm the space. Instead, choose one of the tiles to serve as the wall’s main covering, and use the other tile to create a border along the top of the wall. While both granite and slate tile provide an attractive look for a wall, the granite may be a better choice for a small bathroom, as it is lighter in color and helps the room feel more spacious.

    Fireplace Surround

    • Both Kashmir granite and blue slate are heat-resistant, so you can use the tiles to create an attractive look for your fireplace surround. You can create several designs for your surround with the tiles depending on its size and your preferences. For a strong, elegant look, use a row of blue slate tiles to outline the portion of the surround closest to the fireplace opening, and fill in the rest of the surround with the Kashmir granite. However, if you are using small tiles, you can alternate rows of each tile for a dynamic effect.

    Countertop and Accents

    • You can also use Kashmir granite and blue slate tile to create an interesting look for your kitchen or bathroom countertop. You can create a checkerboard or striped pattern, but for an understated look, use large blue slate tiles to cover the entire countertop. Scatter smaller Kashmir granite tiles across the countertop to serve as accent tiles. You can also switch it up and use the granite as the main countertop and blue slate as the accents, but a white countertop may be difficult to keep clean.
