Choose colors that fall on the warm side of the color wheel. Warm colors are yellows, reds and oranges, while most blues and greens are cool. The paint section of your hardware store will have a color wheel for you to consult.
Consider a light shade to make your kitchen bright. Yellow-gold shades will open up your kitchen and complement the gold tones in your counters. You can choose a bright, sunny, lemon-yellow or a gold shade that's somewhere between amber and yellow.
Paint your kitchen with warm, earthy tones. Shades such as terracotta or nutmeg have warm, red-brown undertones that should complement maple cabinets and gold-brown counter tops.
Choose a darker shade. Warm, rich browns look beautiful alongside maple cabinetry. Darker chocolate and cinnamon shades can be used all-over or on one accent wall.
