Many shades of red work well with zebra prints. Darker shades that complement the black and white pattern and work together well have hints of blue or black, such as maroon or burgundy. To give the room a feminine touch, look for reds that have more white, such as a medium rose color or a shade of pink. You can also use a "true" red for accent pieces like pillows in the bedroom, or give a living room plenty of pizzazz with true red chairs or a red leather sofa. Add a large piece of modern art on the wall to tie the look together that incorporates primary colors, or use a collection of black and white photographs.
Hunter green and a medium emerald green are darker shades of green that work well with a zebra print for curtains and accent pieces. Alternatively, you can use a more muted and subtle shade such as sage to add warmth or chartreuse for a color pop and to give the room a contemporary flair.
Medium blue shades, ranging from cobalt blue on the darker end of the spectrum to turquoise blue on the lighter end, work well with zebra print. Use either direction, or a combination, for decorative pieces such as flower vases and tabletop items to place on coffee tables, bookcases and bedroom dressers.
Brown shades that range from light to medium will give the room a classy quality that's neither too masculine nor feminine. Think of medium, coffee-colored shades for wall colors like cappuccino or mocha for the bedroom. Go lighter for a wall color in a living room with light or dark shades of beige to make the room cozy, attractive and suitable for both sexes and to make an item such as a zebra rug or sofa throw stand out.
To give a room a more masculine quality, select shades of gray to go with a zebra print. A medium gray works well as a wall color in a traditional living room or bedroom that has natural woodwork. Gray also works well in modern and contemporary style rooms. Use light to medium grays for linens, bedding and furniture pieces, such as chairs and the sofa. The neutral quality of gray will make an ideal backdrop to allow the zebra print to be the "star" of the room.
White works to open up a small bedroom or living room and looks particularly handsome in a room that has lots of light or floor-to-ceiling windows. The white will serve as a blank canvass for the room to draw attention to the zebra print and other colors.
Black will add drama to the room and make the zebra print stand out. A black sofa, lacquered coffee table, pillows and black picture frames will work together well and "anchor" the room. Another way to incorporate black is to use it as the paint color for windowsills, baseboards and molding.
