Darker Bathroom Colors

Fuschia

• Fuschia is an especially popular darker color because it brings the spring flower colors indoors. It also coordinates well with other bright colors such as green, purple and orange. White, cream or eggshell emphasize the brightness of fuschia. Paint all four bathroom walls fuschia or just one accent wall. Paint the remaining three white and add a purple, full wall vinyl decal of winding vines and flowers or a surfer decal to one wall.

Chocolate

• Chocolate brown can make your bathroom feel warm and cozy like a sensual retreat. Paint the four walls in milk chocolate and add light blue accent tiles around the white backsplash tiles adorning the shower and sink areas. Paint the small panel under an exposed sink or behind the commode a light blue. Hang light brown wood blinds in the window and finish the window treatment with light, breezy white curtains.

Forest Green

• Forest green and white are a color combination often seen in other parts of the house, but you can bring that natural green into the bathroom. White door, window and backsplash trim keep the bathroom from becoming too dark. A white tub, sink and commode help balance out the strong color, while dark chocolate towels and toiletry trays provide visual interest. Add some green plants with long leaves or fronds to accent the walls.

Slate Blue

• Slate blue provides a darker background for accent colors such as light yellow or seafoam green. A seafoam green bathtub rug along with lemon yellow towels embroidered with the same green give the bathroom an expansiveness that prevents the slate blue from becoming overbearing. Paint the window trim and sill in a light seafoam green and add delicate metal shelves of the same color to one wall. Place a seaside scene in a yellow frame to complete your bathroom.
