How to Decorate a Girls' Room in Pink & Purple

If the little girl in your life loves pink and purple, give her a bedroom to match. Even without making drastic changes to the room, such as changing the carpet or even the paint color, you can decorate the room with those two colors as the focal point. If you don't want to overwhelm the room, or if you suspect the pink and purple phase will be short-lived, make small decorative changes to the room, such as adding a few non-permanent accents.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the room a light pink or lavender color if you want. Avoid using a bright pink or bold purple, as those shades can overwhelm the room. Skip the new paint or go for a more neutral shade, such as white or beige, if you prefer.

    • 2

Hang a pair of curtains patterned in pink and purple in the window. Ask the your little girl for input into what pattern she likes. A pink and purple plaid may work, or a butterfly or polka dot print. Pick one of the two colors for the curtains if you prefer, such as purple if you've painted the walls pink, or pink if you decide to go with purple bedding or throw rugs to create contrast.

    • 3

Spruce up the floor without getting an entirely new carpet by draping a large purple or pink throw rug across the center of the room. Use a solid-color rug in a deep shade, such as magenta or royal purple.

    • 4

Put bedding on the bed that contrasts with the curtains if you went the single color route, or that matches the curtains if you went with a pattern. If you decide to use a single color, get a comforter or duvet that's a darker shade than the sheets.

    • 5

Pile throw pillows in various patterns and shades of pink and purple on the bed to give it an extra special, decorative look. Get pillows in various contrasting patterns, such as a few pink-striped pillows, a purple plaid bolster pillow and solid lavender pillow shams.

Add a few decorative touches to the room by setting a vase full of pink artificial flowers on the nightstand or on a dresser. Put pictures of the little girl and her friends or family in purple and pink frames and arrange on a bookcase or dresser. Hang posters on the wall in large purple frames.
