Porch Column Colors

Porch columns allow your roof to extend over your porch, so you can relax outdoors without the oppressive glare of direct sunlight. In addition to their functionality, porch columns come in several styles and configurations that enhance the look of a house, as well. One factor that influences how porch columns complement a home is color.
  1. Indigo

    • This deep shade of purple is an unconventional choice for a porch and columns, but it can liven up an otherwise plain area. This color also hides dirt well and complements potted plants. Indigo columns coordinate well with a purple or white porch and trim.

    Vermilion

    • While fire-engine red is a bit too loud and imposing to work well with other colors, vermilion is dark and muted enough for porch columns, while still bright enough to make a statement. Vermilion red works with whites, purples and muted greens.

    Green

    • A popular choice because of its organic feel and its compatibility with several colors, green porch columns work well with porch colors ranging from green, to red, white and cream. Green also blends well with container gardens and surrounding hedges.

    Beige

    • Not as harsh as white, beige is a quiet and muted choice for porch columns. This color is both warm and inviting and works with porches of green, cream and blue coloring. Keep in mind that beige clashes with white and can appear perpetually dirty when used to color the columns of a white porch.

    White

    • One of the most popular colors for porch columns, white is a bright and highly reflective color that complements almost any color porch. Although white is very beautiful and popular, porch columns of this color do not hide dirt very well and must be continually maintained.

    Gray

    • Gray may sound like a drab choice, but it creates a contemporary and surprisingly fresh look when you apply it to your porch columns. This color works particularly well with blue, red and purple porches and decks.

    Rose

    • Rose is a darker version of pink and its more muted tones interact better with porches and decks than the louder pink. This color is compatible with indigo, purple, blue and some shades of beige.

    Periwinkle Blue

    • Like gray, periwinkle blue is a neutral color that works with several porch or deck colors. Periwinkle blue is especially compatible with white and other shades of blue, but also works well with gray and beige.
