How to Decorate a Boy's Room With Multiple Colors

Choose a theme for your boy's room. Specific themes will give you a color palette to work with and introduce color combinations that you might otherwise not consider. If your boy is a sports fan, choose the colors of his favorite team. Other colorful themes for boys' rooms include nautical themes with navy and red color motifs, circus themes, an all-American red, white and blue theme, and jungle themes. Purchase a window treatment that complements your theme and the other elements of the room. Boys' rooms don't generally call for frilly curtains or drapes, but you can get creative with valances and shades that incorporate sports pennants or team flags. If you choose not to go with fabric blinds, venetian or wooden blinds are available in a variety of colors that may complement or be painted to match your chosen color scheme.

Add accessories to finish off the room. Purchase practical accessories like lamps, an alarm clock, clothing hooks and laundry hampers that have whimsical elements that suit your theme or match your color plan. Give the room an extra boost of character by adding decorative elements to hang on the walls. These accessories will vary depending on your theme and your boy's personal preferences.
