How to Decorate a House With a Cherrywood Floor

Paint the walls a light color to enhance the warm colors of the cherrywood floor. Use any shade of neutral paint, such as cream, beige or white. You may also choose a light tone of any other color you prefer, such as green, yellow or blue.

Choose furniture that complements the wood flooring. If you want to match furniture to the flooring, look for cherrywood furniture to place in the room. Alternatively, use light-colored wood for contrast or white upholstered furniture.

Hang light-colored window treatments. Add subtle touches of the cherrywood color in accessories, such as wall art, pillows or a throw, to tie in the flooring with the overall decor. If the bare wood floor feels overpowering, add light-colored accent rugs under a coffee table or on either side of a bed, depending on the room.
