The Best Teen Bedrooms

The best teen bedrooms are rooms that reflect your teen's personality and interests. They are places in which to relax as well as to study and to sleep. The best teen bedrooms are also versatile and provide opportunities to change the look without spending a lot of money and time. Include your teen in the bedroom decorating process for the best results.
  1. Bedroom Loft

    • A bedroom loft is usually an all-in-one unit that is topped off by a bed platform with a permanent ladder. The space underneath can be used as a study area and computer work station. It may include shelves, drawers, bulletin boards or dry erase boards, all of which may be switched around to create a different configuration. The unit works well in small spaces, and keeps your teen's things organized and in one place.

    Sports

    • Help your teen express his sports enthusiasm by providing plenty of shelving space in his room for sports equipment and trophies. Sports equipment is close at hand while acting as room decorations. Cover his bed with a reversible comforter and sheets with his favorite team's colors. Hang up school sports pennants and an indoor basketball or hockey net. Store his important things in metal bins that resemble lockers tucked under the bed or on shelves.

    Canopy

    • A canopied bed is ideal for a teen who likes to sleep in a traditional bed placed on the floor instead of a loft. Leave the canopy uncovered for a spare, modern look, or cover it with a translucent throw or material matching the bedding for a more traditional feel. Paint the walls white so that it is easy to change the room decor by switching out bedding, scatter rugs and wall hangings.

    Sleepover

    • Two beds in your teen's room make it easy for her to host sleepovers on a regular basis. Make up the beds with matching bedding, or mix it up and cover the beds with reversible comforters. Use the top color on the first bed, and flip the comforter over on the second bed to reveal the color underneath. Provide wicker bins for each girl's things that can be slid under the bed. Toss beanbags on the floor for a sitting area.
