Wall Colors for Black & Pink Bathrooms

Turning a basic pink and black bathroom into a success can be a challenge, but there are plenty of options to help create an eye-catching look without making the colors overpowering. The choice of a wall color will depend greatly on the shade of pink that's being used. While black goes with anything, a color that flatters a pale pink shower and tub might not work with hot pink fixtures.
  1. Off-White

    • If the bathroom color scheme has already been started with black and pink, it's easy to create a complete feel of sophistication and elegance by adding the right color on the walls. A pure white can be glaring no matter what your shade of pink, but if your bathroom features bright pink, then paint the walls a muted shade of cream. This will help to soften the room's look and add the same sophisticated feel that's often associated with cameo jewelry of the same color scheme. Since cream is a relatively neutral color, adding a texture to the walls can help give it some character.

    Yellow

    • If the bathroom's pink is a more muted and pastel shade, yellow walls can give the room an open, country feel, especially if the rest of the decor is also done right. Minimal black will add depth to the color scheme, and--depending on the shade of pink--the walls can be done in anything from a pale yellow to a bright shade. Pale colors create a softer look that can be accented by flowery artwork, especially paintings of soft yellow roses or buttercups that tie the color scheme together. Bright yellow can be used for a sunny, French country theme, especially when accented with a yellow shower curtain or a patterned wallpaper border.

    Aqua

    • Aqua, pink and black can harken back to another decade with a definite retro feel to the color scheme. This combination works best with bright colors and repeating patterns; try several shades of aqua done in alternating diamond patterns on the wall, or alternating the aqua paint with a pink shade similar to what's already in the bathroom.

This is a color scheme that gives anyone brave enough to try it permission to be bold. Try accenting the bright aqua walls with black cabinets that feature pink drawer faces, and retro-style accent pieces such as mirrors, wrought iron towel racks and mismatched candlesticks.

    Two-Toned Matching

    • Consider incorporating your existing shade of pink into the wall colors; this can be particularly effective if it's done via a two-tone method. Match pink paint to the color that's already in the bathroom; many paint stores have color-matching abilities. Paint one or two of the room's smallest walls with the color-matched shade of pink to accent the second wall color. Depending on the theme, something neutral--such as cream or a pale gold--can accent the pink while bringing out the black. Alternatively, consider painting the walls with wide stripes of two pinks that complement the shade that's already in the bathroom.
