Colors for Brick Facing

Brick facing is a type of thin brick that may be laid on top of the natural surface of a home or other architectural structure. Brick facing comes in all the same colors of standard bricks. When choosing a color for brick facing on your home, you must take into account other colors of the house and the colors in the environment around the house.
  1. Classic Red

    • Traditionally, bricks are a deep red or maroon color. Similar to the popular concept that "blue jeans will match anything," this color of brick is the most flexible in its combination with other surrounding colors because there is a common notion that this is the natural, untainted color of brick. This color of brick also seems to have a timelessness, so that it will not go out of style and will not become dated with each passing decade. Still, classic red looks its best and most stately with neutral colored trims like gray, black and white.

    Pink

    • Usually pink brick is a very mild pink color -- not bright or obvious, but more like a light red, rather than a soft, feminine blush color. Pink brick matches well with light colored trims like white, light gray and powder blues as well as an environment with a lot of flowers and delicate landscaping.

    Gray

    • Light gray and dark gray bricks are not as common as pink and standard red. This color of brick facing contrasts nicely with earthy neutral trim colors like beige, tan and gray blue. Consider gray bricks in a landscape that sees a lot of hard winter months as these colors will fit in well with a snowy landscape and cold weather.

    Brown

    • Brown brick comes in hues of red-brown, green-brown and gray-brown. This type of brick facing looks best in a wooded area, maybe set in a large lot with a lot of surrounding trees. Brown bricks seem to say "just wanting to blend in with the scenery." Combine brown bricks with trim that has been painted in earthy colors like brown, green and beige.
