White Glossy Kitchen Ideas

An all-white kitchen is a timeless design choice with plenty of options for design directions. You can go contemporary, modern and minimalist, or create a retro, classical European look. Add just a touch or pop of color here or there with a vase of fresh flowers to create a sleek contemporary look. Use classical décor items such as Country French blue and white dinnerware to create a classic, old world style kitchen. A glossy white kitchen will give you a blank canvass of design and décor opportunities.
  1. Glass Cabinets

    • Glass cabinets look especially striking when used in combination with white cabinetry. The key is to use glass sparingly -- that is, unless you are an ultra neat and tidy homemaker. Otherwise choose two or three cabinets and give them a see-through look. The glass can be completely clear or frosted for a peek-a-boo effect. Use the viewable glass shelves to show off dinner and stemware.

    Granite or Marble Countertops

    • Granite and marble countertops will make a fine contrast to a glossy all-white kitchen. Choose granite in warmer brown and beige tones if you want to "warm" the look of the kitchen a bit against the cool look of white. Alternatively, you can opt for black or gray marble with white veining in the pattern. Marble will be quite effective if you are going for a contemporary look in the kitchen.

    Flooring

    • Flooring is not to be overlooked when you choose to go with an all-white kitchen. Your first consideration should be the end in terms of the final look you want for the kitchen. For example, if you are going for a sleek and modern kitchen, choose dark floors, such as a dark gray slate, stained concrete or black tile. If you want to create a warmer look, go for hardwood floors in lighter shades, such as oak or beech. If the kitchen style will be retro, black and white checkerboard tiles will make a nice flooring to complete the look.

    Appliances

    • White kitchens make a good backdrop to showcase your selection of appliances. The white coloring will virtually serve as a canvas to make stainless steel appliances shine. Antique white porcelain ranges and ovens will blend in with the choice of using all white and will allow you to create an interesting and eclectic blend of the old and the new.

    Knobs and Handles

    • Knobs and handles should be carefully selected so they will not stand out too much in an all-white kitchen. Best choices are stainless steel or burnished chrome, nickel or white enamel, or stick to wooden knobs and handles that are painted white. If you go for colored knobs, each one will scream "look at me" and disrupt the serene and even flow of an all-white kitchen design.
