How to Decorate a Bed Sheet

Decorating a bed sheet set allows you to have complete customization. It can also be an enjoyable project for children to create their own sheet sets. Instructions

    • 1

Decorate your bed sheet with flat fabric paint, which acts in a similar way to dye. Select either glitter paint for sparkle, matte for a standard finish or velveteen for a bit of shine. Flat fabric paint comes in a wide range of color choices. Paint detailed patterns throughout the sheet or create one big elaborate scene.

Apply acrylic fabric paint pens to your bed sheet, which combines the look of paint with the maneuverability of a writing implement. Shake up the pen before use and test it on a scrap piece of fabric first before moving on to your bed sheet.

Draw designs, pictures and/or patterns directly onto the bed sheet using permanent markers. Use different colors to create a bold statement or stick to one or two for a simpler appearance.

Create a tie-dye pattern on your sheets. Spread the sheet out and twist it into a ball. Hold the ball together with rubber bands. Soak in a solution of 1 cup soda ash and gallon of water. Mix your dye according to instructions and add to squeeze bottles. Remove the sheet from the soda ash and apply the dye by squeezing it onto the sheet. Place in a plastic bag and let sit for 24 hours before removing the rubber bands and washing.
