How to Paint Leopard Print Ceilings

A leopard print ceiling can work very well for a small room or a space that has plain walls, such as a bathroom, nursery or entryway. An intricate pattern on the ceiling will draw the eye upward, making the space seem larger than it actually is. However, creating the look will require patience, and the smaller the print you use, the longer the project is likely to take.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a leopard print stencil. Using a larger stencil or multiple stencils at once will help the project go faster.

    • 2

Choose your paint colors. You need a background color and a color for the leopard print. Don't limit yourself to dull colors. For example, a pink leopard print can look great in a nursery.

    • 3

Use a paint roller and extension pole to paint the ceiling with the base color. If you're not happy with the intensity of the color, a second coat might be needed. Be sure the first coat is dry before you apply another.

    • 4

Wait for the base coat to dry. It needs to be completely dry before you use the stencils.

    • 5

Spray the backside of the stencils with stencil adhesive. This is a temporary glue that will keep the stencils in place.

    • 6

Climb a step ladder and press the stencil in place on the ceiling.

    • 7

Use a small paint roller, such as a 6-inch roller, to paint the leopard print color over the stencils. Be careful the roller doesn't roll off the stencil. Once you've covered one area, you can remove the stencil and stick it to the next section to continue painting.
