Decorating With a Cherry Blossom Motif

Walls

• Cover the walls of a room with cherry blossom wallpaper. Paint a large mural of a cherry tree in bloom on a wall, or just a couple of branches for something more demure. Paint the mural yourself, use stencils, or hire an artist. Bring the motif into the kitchen by using cherry blossom tiles as a back-splash. Or use these same tiles in the bathroom for the walls around the bathtub. If you don't want to take the cherry blossom motif quite so literally, let the colors of the cherry tree inspire you by painting the walls pink or brown.

• Display the cherry blossom motif on your lighting. Invest in lampshades with cherry blossoms on them. Replace dining room chandeliers with large paper lanterns with the blossom design on them. Hang strings of smaller paper lanterns with the motif in a nursery, child's bedroom or screened-in porch. Online retailers also sell fiber optic cherry blossom branches. Put these branches in a vase and use them as decorative lighting.

• Accessorize any room with objects that have a cherry blossom motif. Place cherry bloom throw pillows on a couch, chair or bed. Display vases, dishware and picture frames with the motif on bookshelves or in china cabinets. Hang paintings and photographs of blooming cherry trees on the walls.
