How to Decorate a Bedroom in Camoflauge

Camouflage patterns work in different kinds of rooms with a variety of color schemes. The standard forest green, black and brown camo is good for military or hunting themes, as is the gray and black or tan and brown combinations. Blue camouflage patterns blend well for boys, girls and adults, while pink camouflage puts a feminine twist on a traditionally masculine pattern. Camouflage bedroom decor can be updated to incorporate new themes and ideas as tastes change, while leaving most of the expensive and time-consuming decorating aspects the same.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the room a light, neutral shade from the camouflage pattern you're using, such as white, tan or cream. Add a camouflage border around the room or paint an entire wall with a camo pattern, if you're artistically inclined.

Update your bedroom furniture with novelty camouflage knobs or upholster the headboard with a camo fabric. Neutral furniture in one of the camouflage colors works best, as it can blend into the room. For example, use white furniture in a teenage girl's bedroom with a pink camo pattern or black in a boy's room with a charcoal, black and white camo pattern. Paint the furniture in a camo pattern if the walls are solid and you're artistically able, or choose metal or locker room furniture for a modern look.

Incorporate camouflage into the room through patterned textiles, such as camouflage sheets, comforter, curtains and a rug. Alternate between a camo pattern and solid fabric featuring the colors in your bedroom, so the room isn't completely consumed with the busy pattern. Mosquito netting over the bed or windows softens the room, while keeping with the theme, while camouflage netting can cover the ceiling, walls, furniture or windows for an authentic feeling of a military camp or hunting excursion.

Hang artwork, pictures or peel-and-stick decals on the walls to continue the camouflage theme. A military-themed bedroom can include decals featuring soldiers, tanks, jets or other military vehicles, while a trendier room might include camouflage picture frames, mirrors or picture boards.

Accessorize the room with details featuring the same camouflage pattern, as well as a few solid-colored items to balance the room out. Ceiling fans, lampshades, candles, throw pillows and electronics all come in camouflaged patterns. Use a military footlocker or trunk as a chest to hold extra bedding, toys, books or whatever you want to keep in the room but out of sight.
