How to Apply Interior Wall Pearl Paint

Cover areas like window trim, door frames and baseboards with painter's tape.

Use your paint brush to apply the Brushed Pearl base coat along corner and edges where the roller won't be able to easily cover. Approximately 3-inch wide strips of this coat will create a frame for you to begin using the roller.

Finish the base coat with a roller and leave to dry overnight.

Apply the Brushed Pearl color of your choice using a standard paintbrush. The technique to use involves moving the brush in "X" shapes across the wall and overlapping each stroke with another. The paintbrush should only be coated about an inch, and each stroke should be only about half a foot long. Work in 4 ft. by 8 ft. sections. Frame out each section with a 3-in. border along corners, ceiling and baseboard. Working in small sections like this ensures that you always have wet edges of paint to work with.

Smooth the paint using a plastic float trowel. Use circular motions to create a swirl effect. If the trowel slips rather than grabs the paint when swirling patterns, you may need to wait a few minutes to let the paint dry more before you continue forming the patterns. Wipe the plastic float trowel with a wet rag when it becomes caked in Brushed Pearl material. Continue swirling until you achieve the affect you want.

Wait at least 4 hours for the surface of the wall to dry. If the texture is uneven or if it is not thick enough, add another coat of the Brushed Pearl material.
