Rip apart lengths of tissue paper. You need a few more sheets than is required to cover the wall. When you rip the tissue paper, the goal is to remove all the smooth edges and have only ragged ones.
Scrunch up the tissue paper sheets so there are wrinkles throughout. Smooth these out on the floor for easy access.
Cover the wall with wallpaper paste using a paint roller.
Pick up the tissue paper one sheet at a time and smooth it over the wallpaper paste with a chip brush, slightly overlapping each sheet. Be sure there are still some wrinkles and ridges. This is what provides the faux marble look.
Wait for the wallpaper paste to dry. Apply a coat of primer using a paint roller. Once the primer is dry, paint the wall again with your chosen color. Do not continue until the paint is dry.
Dab on small amounts of a colored glaze using a chip brush. Wipe away the glaze gently with a rag before it has a chance to dry. This adheres the glaze to the ridges created by the tissue paper and gives your wall a faux marble appearance.
