How to Hide a Sewer Pipe in the Laundry Room

While a laundry room isn't a highly decorated space in most homes, it is more pleasant to work in one that is clean and uncluttered. A visible sewer pipe can ruin the atmosphere of the space and bring up thoughts of unpleasant things. Whether the sewer pipe in your laundry room runs along the wall or ceiling or juts out from the floor, you can use a few easy tricks to hide it.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a folding room divider, such as a shoji screen, in front of a sewer pipe that extends from the floor partially up the wall. Unfold and arrange the divider so it adequately hides the pipe.

    • 2

Install a hollow beam over a ceiling sewer pipe to hide the pipe and add a sophisticated look to the laundry room. Wrap the pipe with fabric or fake greenery for a low-cost solution.

    • 3

Hide a laundry room sewer pipe with fabric. Create a fabric wall or ceiling, depending on the pipe's location. Measure the area you want to cover and cut a piece of fabric that's at least 2 feet wider to give a curtain-like effect to the wall or a draped effect to the ceiling. Attach fabric to the ceiling with a staple gun. Attach fabric to the wall by running a curtain rod or curtain wire along the top of the wall and clipping the fabric into place with curtain clips.

Place a large, solid piece of furniture in front of the sewer pipe, such as shelves to hold detergent and other laundry supplies.
