Decorating Ideas for Red Appliances in the Laundry

Add interest and color to your laundry room with a red washer and dryer set. Plain and boring decor won't do the boldly colored washer and dryer any justice, just like the red and white set won't look good paired with blue and yellow French country decor. Utilize the set as part of the decor instead of overlooking them.
  1. Inspiration

    • Decorate the laundry area using a theme or particular item as your inspiration. If you chose a sleek red and chrome laundry set because it reminds you of your dad's classic red car, use that as your inspiration for the room. A red, black and white color scheme can work just as well for a modern look as the colors do for a retro look. Alternatively, use the colors and style of a great laundry room poster or wall piece as your inspiration.

    Paint

    • Paint the walls a pure white for a clean and fresh look. Softer whites can work as well, though the tint in the paint may create a dingy look rather than a fresh look, which is not what you want in your laundry room. Turquoise walls will contrast with the red and create a retro or cheerful appearance. Gray is another option for the walls, though a lighter gray may appear dingy. Add a red border or stripe around the room if you don't want plain walls.

    Storage

    • Install open shelves or enclosed cabinets above the red washer and dryer to store the smaller laundry necessities. Open chrome shelves will complement a red and chrome washer and dryer set. White cabinets or shelves the same color as the walls will give you storage space without taking up too much visual space in a small laundry area. Bright, bold cabinets or shelves, such as pink or aqua, will contrast with the rest of space and works well in a large, open area, such as if your laundry is in the garage.

    Accessories

    • Show off some of your personality with fun accessories, while adding necessary items to make your laundry room function as well as your new red set does. Use chrome baskets to hold detergent, stain removers and dryer sheets. Include red baskets to sort the laundry. Hang posters or artwork that feature a red laundry room or pattern. Alternatively, use red wall stickers that feature a quote or saying that you find appropriate for the laundry room, such as, "it's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it."
