Front Foyer Colors

Without a doubt, your foyer gives your guests a first impression about your home. And when it comes to painting this space, as with any other room of your home, there are a myriad of color choices. To set the right mood, pick the right color.
  1. Dramatic

    • From intense blues to fiery reds, warm colors can ignite a foyer space eliciting a dramatic feel. Reds, particularly those in the coral-orange hue, add a bit of spice to a space. If you opt for a bold color, be sure to balance it out with more neutral accents in furniture or accessories. To avoid making an over-the-top statement, paint one wall, or the top half of a focal wall in the intense color.

    Soothing

    • A pale, soft green gives an entryway a peaceful feeling, and the color is easy to match with fabrics and other structural elements. Similarly, a sky-bluish color with hints of gray sets a quiet tone when entering the home.

    Neutral

    • Linen white lends an ideal backdrop for a foyer; it’s not stark white and not beige and offers a neutral backdrop for whatever is placed on the walls. Still neutral, but a bit warmer than linen white, hues of gold are also easy to decorate around with a light-colored background. While gray may not sound like the most exciting color, it is ideal for foyers to complement fabrics and accessories which together make a bold statement.

    Considerations

    • Whatever color selection you make for your foyer, give some consideration to adjoining rooms and how complementary or jarring the choice may be. Also, make sure there is adequate contrast between the ceiling and the wall color. Allow the woodwork trim to stand out and enhance the space.
