Cute Wall Colors for a Teenage Girl

Bright, fresh colors are the call of the day to outfit a teen’s room for a space she will enjoy retreating to, entertaining in or just lounging. While your teen is in transition from young girl to young woman, choosing playful colors -- but not too kiddie -- is the key to creating an ideal palette for a teenage girl’s room.
  1. Vibrant Colors

    • When they were little, shades of pale pink reigned supreme for many girls, and into the teen years pink still has power, but deep shades of pink, and even some fluorescents, work well for older girls. Purple walls may seem overpowering but, when paired with complementary fabrics and accessories, they give some teen girls’ rooms just the color punch they like. If four walls of bold pink or purple seem too much, paint one wall either purple or pink, and make it a focal point in the room.

    Muted Colors

    • Even as early as the teen years, some girls can appreciate an organic look and lean towards neutral tones in their room. Pair a cayenne red, not too warm a color, with a cream or beige for a rustic flair. Cool blues and creams illicit the same look. Muted browns and yellows work well together or alone to create an understated atmosphere.

    Combination Colors

    • The classic combination of black and white is striking and, when jazzed up with pops of green or shades of red, can be just right for a more mature teen. For the artistic teen girl who likes a medley of colors, a Bohemian look made from a combination of stripes fits the bill. Combine shades of green with turquoise for the look. To create the ultimate chill zone, pair a sea blue with crisp white for a relaxing atmosphere. For a teen girl with a more sophisticated palette, use brown and red on alternating walls.

    Glamorous

    • On the cusp of adulthood, but still a young woman, a room with colors that make a mature statement are also ideal for a teen girl's room. For instance, a neutral gray paired with a begonia pink or watery blue is still cheerful with a subdued undertone. A powdery blue yields a polished and airy look for the perfect amount of glam.
