Chinese Elements of Feng Shui for Bedroom Colors

Feng shui is a method of using furniture, colors, water, plants and other items in your home in such a way that you leave your life open for good luck, prosperity and love. This ancient tradition is the way the Chinese believe you can change bad luck and bring good energy about in your life if it is lacking. It is also believed to be a way to create a peaceful home environment.
  1. Light Colors

    • The main color scheme of a feng shui influenced bedroom should be light and inviting colors. Think of skin tones when you are decorating, such as beige, yellow, white, light orange, caramel and brown. These colors are seen as natural, peaceful and calming and create a good environment for unwinding and sleeping.

    Pinks and Reds

    • Brighter shades of pink and red are seen in feng shui as the color of romance. However, feng shui does not recommend heavy use of any colors that are too bright, because they can cause overexcitement and disruption of peaceful harmony. But pink and red tones are considered the colors of love and romance and, when used sparingly, are said to help achieve those goals.

    Peaceful Tones

    • Cool, water-inspired colors such as blue, green and turquoise are said to lower blood pressure and therefore help bring relaxation. These colors can help provide growth and life changes for the person in this room. These colors work together to create a sense of stillness and tranquility, along with being refreshing mentally.

    Dark Shades

    • Dark colors such as black should never be used as colors for walls or bedding. Black is a powerful color that can bring about a confident feeling, but when it's not used sparingly, it can create a bleak environment for feng shui. Use small touches of black in your bedroom, such as a small piece of furniture, railing, throw pillows or framed piece of artwork to bring strength into the room without being overpowering.
