Paint Colors That Complement a Brass Bed

A brass bed can add old-fashioned elegance to any bedroom, but because of its bright, shiny finish, it can sometimes be difficult to choose paint colors that complement brass items. With its yellow undertones, your brass bed serves as a warm element in your bedroom, so choosing other warm shades is usually your safest bet. However, some warm colors look better with brass than others, and you may actually prefer a contrasting look for your bedroom walls. Select a few color options, and use samples to paint swatches on the wall beside your bed to identify your favorite look.
  1. Cream

    • For a simple look that allows your brass bed to take center stage, cream is an ideal paint color for bedroom walls. White is an option as well, but it can create a stark, cold look that may not be the most appealing look for a bedroom. Cream, on the other hand, has a yellow undertone, so it offers a softer, warmer look that complements similar warm tones in the brass. If you choose a pale shade like cream for the walls, accessorize the space with a variety of deep, warm colors that work well with the brass bed frame, such as shades of red, brown and orange.

    Cranberry

    • If you prefer a warmer, richer look for your bedroom, pair your brass bed with cranberry-colored walls. Cranberry paint offers a more subtle look than primary red, but has similar warm undertones that complement the brass. It is an ideal option for a large bedroom because it helps make the space feel smaller and cozier. It also balances the shiny look of the brass bed frame because it adds depth to the walls. To help brighten the space, use a soft gold shade as an accent color with the cranberry and brass.

    Rose

    • For a little girl’s bedroom that features a brass bed, consider a dusty rose color for the walls. The rose shade has warm undertones that complement similar tones in the brass, but it is deep enough to stand up to the shiny look of the metal as well. Pair it with cream accents to brighten the room, and consider adding a cool green shade as an accent color to create an interesting contrast with the warm tones in the room.

    Olive

    • While green is traditionally thought of as a cool-toned color, several shades actually have warm undertones. An olive green paint color has these warm tones, which makes it an ideal wall color for a bedroom with a brass bed. It is light enough to maintain a spacious feel for the room, but it still adds depth to the walls. Pair it with a rich eggplant shade in the bedding and window treatments, or a sumptuous chocolate brown for a more masculine look.

    Blue

    • A contrasting color palette can provide a strong look for a bedroom, so consider pairing a warm brass bed with a cool paint color like blue. Choose a saturated shade of blue like a steel or cerulean, so the walls are strong enough to stand up to the shiny finish of the brass. To create a bright, airy look for the room, pair the blue walls and brass bed with sheer cream-colored curtains and blue and cream patterned bedding.
