How to Make Pink Accessories for a Teenage Bedroom

Once you've chosen a motif or theme for a bedroom, accessories will provide the detailed touches that make the room "pop." In the case of a teenager’s room, pink accent pieces work for a number of themes. For example, if the room has a classic English garden feel, add pink flowers. For a trendy fashion theme, add a handbag or shoes. Or, for a wild jungle feel, use pink zebra stripes. Making your own pink accessories allows you to customize the decorations to meet your design needs.

Instructions

  1. Mirror

    • 1

Draw a 24-inch daisy shape on a piece of 1/4-inch plywood. Cut out the daisy using a jigsaw.

    • 2

Sand the edges of the daisy using a medium-grit sandpaper to remove any rough spots. Brush away the sawdust left behind.

    • 3

Paint the daisy pink. Allow the paint to dry overnight.

    • 4

Apply a heavy-duty liquid adhesive to the back of a 6-inch-diameter round mirror. Press the mirror to the center of the daisy. Let the adhesive dry overnight.

    • 5

Set the daisy mirror facedown. Place two screw eyes 6 inches apart in the center of the piece. Twist them into the wood. Cut a 7-inch piece of picture-hanging wire. Insert the ends of the wire into the screw eyes. Twist the ends of the wire around the screws to secure it.

    • 6

Turn the mirror face up. Apply glue to the underside of three silk butterflies and press them to the wooden daisy. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 7

Hammer a nail into the wall and hang the mirror.

    Lampshade

    • 8

Tape a stencil to the side of a fabric lampshade. Position the stencil where you want to transfer the pattern. Choose any stencil design desired, such as a shoe or handbag. For the lampshade color, choose a solid color such as black or white.

    • 9

Dip a dry paintbrush into the pink paint. Brush the paint over the surface of the stencil. Let the paint dry overnight.

    • 10

Remove the stencil. Use a small paintbrush to touch up the edges of the design, as needed.

    Side Table

    • 11

Paint a wooden side table your favorite shade of pink. Allow the paint to dry overnight.

    • 12

Add zebra stripes to the table with black paint. Let the paint dry overnight.

    • 13

Apply a layer of clear, high-gloss sealant. Allow to dry for 24 hours or until it is no longer tacky.
