Decorating Ideas With Zebra-Print Curtains

Zebra-print curtains may seem like a decorating nightmare to some people, but to others, the stark black-and-white design is an invitation to embrace the call of the wild. Zebra-print curtains offer you a chance to experiment with color, texture and patterns. By taking advantage of the flexibility of zebra-print curtains, you can take a walk on the wild side and let your creative imagination flow.
  1. White Wall

    • Effectively highlight a white wall with zebra-print curtains to make a room appear more spacious. Consider adding zebra-print lampshades to accent and support the curtains, and use white tables or light-toned wooden tables to let the print stand out. The goal is to accent the room with smaller zebra print elements rather than use too many and risk overkill. Keep the carpet a neutral color, such as white or tan, and use black furniture to add contrasting color accents to the room.

    Black Wall

    • Dark walls offer an entirely different look when combined with zebra-print curtains. Painting your walls black will match the curtains and give your room a smaller, cozier feel. Or accent a room with black walls by taking advantage of glass tables or smaller tables that alternate between black and white. Use white lampshades or zebra-patterned lampshades here, as well. In addition, a white shag type carpet will work with dark walls. Use white furniture to provide contrast against the walls.

    Jungle Theme

    • Embrace the zebra print, and take your room all the way with a jungle theme. Paint murals on the walls with jungle fauna or large, sweeping green jungle leaves and vines. Your zebra-print curtains will fit right in. Use jungle colors, such as gold and brown, and offset them with gold. Add bamboo furniture and bamboo accents to enhance the jungle effect of the room. Accent your walls with jungle art prints.

    Kids' Zebra Room

    • A kids' room offers an opportunity to take advantage of the zebra curtains fully in ways that may not work well in other rooms of the house. Paint or wallpaper your walls with a zebra print that matches the curtains, or stencil in cartoon zebras on the wall to enhance the theme. A zebra-patterned toy box, zebra bedding and rugs and zebra lampshades will work, too. Add a decorative net in one corner of the room, and use a collection of stuffed zebras to finish the look.
