Paint your bookcase pink using a paint roller or paint brush. Remove the shelves and paint them separately for an easier job.
Paint tapered zebra stripes in an uneven pattern with black paint on the two outer sides of the bookcase. Use the 1-inch-wide brush for the thicker parts of the stripes and switch to the 1/8-inch-wide brush for the tapered points of each stripe. Make fatter stripes for a bolder look and thinner stripes for a more subtle design.
Remove the shelves of the bookcase and paint a zebra pattern on the inner sides and back of the bookcase if you want to exaggerate the zebra theme.
Paint your bookcase entirely pink using a paint roller or paint brush.
Cut zebra stripes out of black contact paper with a utility knife. Cut stripes of uneven lengths and widths.
Remove the protective backing from the zebra stripes and apply them to the outer and inner surfaces of the bookcase in an uneven pattern. Trim any edges that stick out using the utility knife.
Optional: apply store-bought zebra print decals over the pink background of the bookcase.
