Cabinet Colors to Go With Brazilian Cherry Hardwood Floors

As a homeowner, you want to decorate your living space with eye-appealing style and complementary colors. Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors are rich in beauty and add warmth and elegance to a kitchen, bathroom or bedroom design. Complement your dark floors with cabinetry that accentuates and harmonizes with your room design.
  1. Pine or Oak

    • Pine and oak cabinets provide a light-colored contrast to dark cherry wood flooring. Since both pine and oak have slight color variations in their wood grain, their dark-colored flecks blend with the warm colors in Brazilian Cherry hardwood. Since cherry hardwood has rich brown and red undertones, pine and oak offer a distinct contrast to the deep colors.

    Maple

    • Maple is an attractive hardwood for kitchen and bathroom cabinetry. Maple is slightly darker than pine and oak, so it complements the earthy colors in Brazilian cherry wood. Avoid orange shades of maple that might clash with the red tint in your cherry wood flooring. Opt for a golden or reddish maple hardwood that blends with your floor design.

    Ebony

    • If you prefer dark cabinets but you don't want them to overpower your Brazilian Cherry floors, choose ebony-stained cabinetry. Ebony is darker and richer than walnut or mahogany, so it will draw out the deepest color flecks in your floors. Ebony stain is softer than black paint, but it adds the same intense foundational color to your room design. If your room is small or has low ceilings, avoid ebony-stained cabinetry that could shrink the appearance of the size of the room.

    White

    • White painted or whitewashed cabinetry is a strong contrast to dark cherry hardwood floors. If you want to brighten and freshen your room's visual appeal, select white cabinetry with shiny silver metallic hardware. White cabinets tend to expand a room and make it more cheerful and inviting. If your Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors are high gloss, choose a satin or semi-gloss finish on white cabinetry. Otherwise, the entire room might appear too shiny and reflective.
