Good Reds for a Kitchen

The dramatic touch of red in a kitchen can make the rest of your design elements pop and sizzle. Use red to its best effect by coordinating it with your appliances, walls, flooring, counters and cabinetry. Give red in your kitchen an unforgettable place that does not overwhelm but strikes the eye and energizes the spirit. This color works in a traditional, contemporary, rustic or country-style room. You may be surprised at the shades of red at your disposal.
  1. Copper and Burnt Orange

    • A Tuscan-style kitchen is lavish, with rustic design elements and a color palette from the Italian countryside. A Tuscan kitchen, with deep wood and wrought iron and touches of copper and burnt orange, exudes warmth and richness. Deep red crockery, canisters and table decorations blend with the natural setting of a Tuscan kitchen.

    Chili Pepper

    • Red can overwhelm, or it can invite. If you want red walls in your kitchen, select a deep red, like a coral or chili pepper red. Tone down the rest of your design features with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops with flecks of red. The cold steel invites your red walls to warm but not blaze.

    Bright or Deep Red

    • Splashes of bright red add warm notes to a country-style kitchen. Drape red gingham over a kitchen window, and match the shade of red in a hooked rug, dish towels and red rooster decorations. The red also adds energy to white or pine country-style cabinets and furnishings.

    Brick Red

    • Brick red picks up the warmth of browns and complements black appliances and countertops. Paint table legs and cabinet door panels brick red to add contrast and deep red notes to your kitchen. Integrate black or brown accents to cutlery, flatware, pottery and towels.
