Do Olive & Teal Go Together?

Olive and teal can be paired to decorate a room on their own or used as accents for a room designed in another color to add pops of bright color. Look to the existing decor of the room to determine the direction of your color scheme. Be sure to balance prints and patterns with bold solid colors for a visually appealing room design.
  1. White Room

    • Create a bright white room and add jolts of vibrant color with teal and olive green. For instance, a living room with all white furniture will come to life with a set of sheer teal curtains, graphic throw pillows in teal and olive prints and an olive throw. Look for a vintage coffee table or accent chair you can refinish with a coat of teal paint. Choose table lamps with colorful ceramic bases and white shades. Display teal- and olive-colored books, plant pots, vases and art to finish the decor.

    Olive With Teal Accents

    • Paint a bedroom with your favorite shade of olive green. Add visual interest to the room with white wainscoting, trim and shadow boxes. Choose silk curtains in teal and mix tones of teal and white for the bedding. For instance, white sheets paired with a dark teal duvet cover and a pale teal throw for the end of the bed will add depth and texture to the overall color scheme. Combine both colors by building your own fabric-covered headboard. Create horizontal stripes of teal and olive fabric to cover a headboard and unify the color scheme.

    Teal With Olive Accents

    • Choose a teal and white damask pattern of wallpaper for a dining room. Add olive velvet curtains and a vintage mirror painted with a medium hue of olive paint. Add a bright teal tablecloth and dress it with olive dishes and serving platters. This color scheme will work well with dark wood furniture with a curvaceous or vintage look. Dress an old-fashioned sideboard with olive-tinted vintage glass and vases. Choose a carpet for the room with both olive and teal tones and hang a modern drum shade chandelier to tie everything together.

    Eclectic Design

    • For an open-concept space, use teal and olive accents to tie an eclectic space together. For instance, a living, dining and kitchen space will come together if you add pops of the same colors in each space. Paint the space with a warm cream color and white moldings. Add teal and olive throw pillows to the sofa with modern prints such as damask, honeycomb, arabesques, florals, botanicals and geometrics. Choose one of the prints to add a valance above the kitchen window and another pattern to add color to the upholstery on dining room chairs. Display olive and teal accessories in the kitchen and hang artwork of a similar hue in the dining room to finish the eclectic look.
