Hang the canopy drapes from the canopy bed frame. A ruffled canopy works well for either a bed in a studio loft, a country cottage or a regal resort. Design the drapes so that they frame the bed, making it look as though the bed is part of a presentation. Leave the drapes hanging loose around the canopy posts. To ensure the drapes correspond with the rest of the decor in the room, select drapes that are white or cream colored.

Make the bed with a red paisley duvet cover. The paisley print or pattern is swirly and intricate, making it a suitable addition for a bedroom with a Parisian or French country feel. Fold a blue coverlet and place it at the foot of the bed, on top of the red paisley duvet cover. The blue coverlet becomes the accent piece to the bed. You can match this color with corresponding end tables or a dresser in the bedroom, or embellish the walls with matching blue picture frames.

Use lots of full, fluffy pillows for a standard French look. French bedroom decor uses a wide variety of pillows. Begin with the two king pillow inserts by stuffing them into two white king shams. Set the king pillows at the head of the bed, resting against the headboard or wall.

Insert the two European pillows -- which are a square shape -- into the two golden corresponding shams. The golden color of the shams contrasts effectively with the red paisley duvet and the antique blue coverlet.

Put the lumbar pillow insert into the lumbar pillow sham. This sham is white so that you create a layer of the pillow colors from white to gold to white. Try to find a sham that is ruffly so that the lumbar pillow looks especially decorative and matches the ruffly canopy drapes.
