Cute and Girly Apartment Ideas

When you finally get your own apartment, there is nothing as fun as decorating it to exactly your taste. Make it cute and girly to show off your feminine side. If you would love to go to Paris or live at the ocean, decorate using those themes. Go shabby chic or even old Hollywood. A myriad of shops and Internet sites facilitate decorating, all with price points to fit your specific budget.
  1. A Taste of Paris

    • Use Eiffel Tower accessories to create a Parisian look.

Even if you've never been to Paris, decorate your apartment to make it seem like you're there. Put a mural of the Eiffel Tower on your wall, or use a replica of that famous landmark for a paper weight or jewelry holder. Use pink, black and white to create the color scheme of the Parisian shops. Applique poodles on your throw pillows and add tulle skirts to your chairs. Paint a wall in your kitchen in chalkboard paint and add a French menu to the decor. Tie black polka dot ribbons around trash cans and lamp shades. Hang mirrors and pictures with pink ribbon and paint "bonjour" on your living room wall.

    Shabby Chic

    • White bedding and a wrought iron bed are shabby chic decor.

Go ultra-feminine with a shabby chic style. Use white distressed furniture and pale pink and green decor items. A wrought iron bed frame is a shabby chic item. Use pink floral prints for your bedding and upholstery. Add lace scarves to your dresser and use lacy placemats on your dining table. Ruffles add to the look --- use a ruffled bed skirt and tack a skirt on the bottom of your chairs. Hang vintage plates from ribbons and display antique cups and saucers in your kitchen.

    Old Hollywood

    • A mirror lined with globe lights looks very Hollywood.

Channel Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn in your decor. Hang pictures or murals of these two feminine icons in your bedroom or living room. Drape chairs and mirrors with strands of pearls. Use rhinestone knobs on your dresser drawers and hang a glass chandelier in the dinning room. Get a vanity table for your dressing area. If you can line the mirror with globe bulbs, it will look just like a movie star's dressing room. Add a star to your bedroom door and paint your name underneath in gold letters.

    The Water's Edge

    • Wicker furniture and shades of blue call out the feel of the ocean.

Decorate as if you live at the water's edge. Line the frames of your mirrors with shells. Use wicker and rattan furniture and baskets to get that vacation feeling. Paint with shades of light blue and green to imitate the colors of the sea. Palm tree murals look serene on your bedroom wall and will make you feel as if you are on a permanent vacation. Use natural jute or sea grass rugs on the floor and breezy, filmy curtains where privacy is not an issue.
