Toddler Bedding & Victorian Style

The Victorian era was a time of abundance and over-the-top interior design. An interior design in the Victorian style uses rich and vibrant colors, exquisitely carved furnishings and decorative accessories that fill every nook and cranny of a room. When decorating a toddler bedroom in the Victorian style, use the color palette and patterns common during the era to create an attractive toddler's room.
  1. Colors

    • When selecting the bedding for a Victorian style toddler's room, use the lighter shades that were common during the era. Pastel shades were favorite choices for bedding and the draperies in bedrooms during Victorian times. The lighter colors such pale pink, blue, yellow or green work well in a child's bedroom décor.

    Designs and Patterns

    • Floral patterns are common in Victorian style interior décor, and you can incorporate it in the design style for a toddler's room and bedding. Choose light color bedding with delicate flowers strewn across the fabric. You can replicate the pattern in the toddler bedding in wallpaper and curtains in the room as well. Another option is to use the colors from the patterned bedding in the wallpaper, paint or fabrics in the room. For example, if you use a fabric design with pale pink flowers scattered over a cream background, use the pink from the flowers to decorate the walls and curtains in the toddler's room.

    Bed Styles

    • The Victorian style includes dark, elegant furnishings in the rooms. A well-crafted toddler bed made from darkly stained wood fits perfectly with the interior design style. Four-poster beds are another common choice in Victorian decorating. Intricately carved headboards and footboards fit in well with the over-the-top style of the Victorian era.

    Accessories

    • A Victorian room would not be complete without an excessive amount of accessories. For the toddler bedding, include plenty of toss pillows in coordinating colors to decorate the bed when it is not in use. Use a quilt to decorate the bottom of the toddler bed, or lay it across the footboard.
