Ideas for Decorating With a Theme of Musical Notes

Musical-Score Banner

• Draw or purchase a long banner decorated to look like a musical score. If you are making your own musical score banner, tape multiple pieces of white paper together. On the opposite side that has no tape, use a black felt marker and a ruler to draw five lines spanning the banner, with even spaces between them. Draw many different kinds of notes on these lines, from quarter-notes to half-notes to barred-eight and sixteenth-notes. Beak the score into measures. Add rests and key signatures and indicate treble or bass clef. Tape the banner up on a wall. If playing music is part of the event, challenge guests to play the score drawn on the banner on their instruments.

Music Posters

• Cover the walls with posters of musicians revered by you and other guests. Cut colorful construction paper into the shapes of music notes. Tape or pin these notes to the music posters. For example, if one of your posters features a saxophone player, paste music notes dancing out of the bell of his saxophone. You can also place music notes leaving the mouth of singer. • Procure several undecorated throw rugs and/or pillows -- the appearance of which you don't mind altering. Draw music notes on the pillows and rugs and distribute them throughout the room where the event will be taking place. Guests can lounge on a music-themed sofa, and your floor will not be bare in comparison to your decorated walls.

• Decorate household appliances with musical notes. Cover a lamp in paper featuring drawings of music notes. Hang cutouts of music notes from your fan or from the ceiling by taping the notes to pieces of string and attaching the strings to various appliances. Hang music notes from door handles and hanging light fixtures or curtain rods.
