MiGi Nursery Decor

The MiGi girls -- Michele Adams and Gia Russo -- launched the MiGi nursery decor in 2006 . They were passionate about designing the collection after becoming new moms. Inspiration for the timeless appeal of MiGi baby decor came from enduring vintage and classic looks. Crib bedding, accessories, window treatments and rugs make up the MiGi nursery designs. Combining an assortment of fabrics, textures and colors, MiGi baby decor is designed to mix-and-match, creating an individual style that is budget-friendly.
  1. The Girls

    • Working as designers and editors in New York City for "Martha Stewart Living", MiGi girls had common interests in gardening, style and amusing stories. Michelle and Gia left "Martha Stewart Living" in 1999, moved to Los Angeles and created MiGi -- named after the first two letters in their first names. In addition to developing the MiGi nursery collections, the two girls have authored lifestyle books, hosted television shows and contributed to magazine editorials.

    Nursery Themes

    • MiGi's nursery themes embrace the design philosophy of personalizing a baby's environment with timeless classic decor. Nursery themes are fresh, inviting and created for mixing-and-matching. Prominent colors threaded throughout the nursery decor include pastel pinks, blues, greens and whites. A few themes are targeted specifically for a baby boy or girl but most are gender-friendly. Many bedding fabrics are 100 percent cotton and easy-care. Baby themes include lady bug, little whale, alphabet, princess, sweet sunshine, little tree and blossom.

    Tips

    • Michelle and Gia recommend setting a budget and considering available space as first steps in designing a nursery. Measure the walls, windows, doors and closets, and draw out a plan for your baby's room. Think about using convertible nursery furniture that can change as baby grows. A crib that converts into a toddler's bed or a changing table with shelves that can be for storage baskets will save money in later years. Selecting a special piece of art can become a focal point from which to pull your color palette.

    Paint

    • The professional nursery designer for Baby Supermall, Shawn Suby (Allied Member ASID), recommends Mother's Touch paint colors that coordinate specifically with MiGi nursery decor. Mother's Touch is a baby-safe paint void of toxins, making it possibly the most risk-free latex paint on the market. This paint doesn't contain any volatile organic compounds that are unsafe, especially for expectant mothers and their unborn babies. The paint is virtually odorless and is highly scrubbable for removing marks on the walls.
