Elegant Pumpkin & Gourd Arrangements

Gourd or Pumpkin Vase

• Combine a large pumpkin or gourd with a handful of fall flowers and grass for a display with both color and texture. Cut a hole out of the side of the gourd or pumpkin and, after scooping out the innards, fill it with floral foam. Stick orange, yellow or brown flowers and foliage into the form, creating a profusion of flowers spilling out of the gourd. This is a quick, simple centerpiece, and it can be finished quickly and easily in time for an event.

Cornucopia

• A cornucopia is a symbol of plenty, and it is typically a horn-shaped container with food spilling out of the wide end. Choose a cornucopia made of wicker, as they are versatile and enhance the woodsy feel of the season. Line the cornucopia with stalks of wheat or straw and fill it with a bright tumble of gourds and pumpkins.

Tall Glass Vase

• When you want the color of pumpkins and gourds, but you do not want a sprawling arrangement, fill a large clear vase with pumpkins. Choose small pumpkins and gourds with good color and fill a tall clear vase. This allows you to maximize your table space while still using the gourds' shapes and colors.

White Gourds and Pumpkins

• When autumn is at its end and winter is coming, create a frosty pumpkin and gourd arrangement by purchasing only specimens that are totally white. Fill a simple black ceramic bowl with small white pumpkins and small white gourds for the most stark look. You can even brush some clear glitter paint on the gourds and pumpkins for a frosted, shimmering look. For an artistic touch, paint black abstract designs on your white gourds.
