Snoopy Nursery Decor

Finding a theme for your baby's nursery can be a challenge. It may be especially difficult if you do not know the sex of your baby and are aiming for a look that works for either gender. Choosing a cartoon character to base the decor around often helps because you can find a variety of ready-made decorating items to make designing the room a breeze. Snoopy and his pals from the Peanuts comic strip provide an ideal theme for either a boy or girl, and there is no shortage of Snoopy decorating accessories for a nursery.
  1. Wallpaper

    • Wallpaper is one of the easiest ways to incorporate a Snoopy theme in your baby's nursery. A variety of Snoopy-themed wallpaper is available for children's rooms, so you can choose a design that appeals to you. If you prefer a subtle look, you may opt for a Snoopy wallpaper border instead. Like full sheets of wallpaper, you apply borders to the wall using wallpaper glue or adhesive. However, borders are much smaller in width, so they fit perfectly at the top or bottom of your wall. You can also place them at the wall's midway point to serve as a chair rail. And you can find Snoopy-themed vinyl wall decals, which are similar to wallpaper but do not require adhesive, making them easier to apply and remove. You can use several of the decals to create an attractive accent wall or spread them out across all of the walls to add Snoopy's image throughout the room.

    Mural

    • Another option for the walls in your nursery is to create a Snoopy mural. You can hire a mural artist to paint a custom design for the wall behind the baby's crib. Ask the artist to create a mock-up of the mural before painting so you are sure that you like the design. However, if you are feeling creative, you can save money and paint the mural yourself. Find an image of Snoopy and his pals online or in a book and make a copy. Get the copy turned into a transparency, and use an overhead projector to place it on the wall. You can rent a projector from your local office supply store if you don't want to buy one just for the project. Adjust the image until it is the right size, and use a pencil to trace the outline on the wall. Follow up with acrylic paint to color in the mural.

    Bedding

    • Whether you decide to decorate the walls of the nursery or not, Snoopy bedding can help pull the entire room together. You can find crib bedding sets in a variety of Snoopy-related designs. Some feature blue backgrounds and are an attractive option for a boy's nursery. You can also find pink-based Snoopy designs if you want a traditional look for a girl. However, if you prefer a unisex look, there are also yellow and neutral-based Snoopy crib bedding patterns for your nursery. In some cases, you may find valances and curtains that match the bedding to coordinate the look. A Snoopy throw is a nice accessory for the back of the crib or a rocking chair.

    Accessories

    • To complete the look of a Snoopy nursery, accessories are a must. You can a place a Snoopy stuffed animal in the crib when your baby is not sleeping, or display it on a nearby shelf or dresser. Your baby may also enjoy looking up at a Snoopy and friends mobile over his crib. In addition, a Snoopy- or Peanuts-themed clock is a fun touch as are switch plate covers, lampshades, bookends and framed artwork.
