Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of the banister. Purchase garland 1 1/2 times that length. This allows extra for draping and wrapping if needed.

    • 2

Cut five pieces of ribbon long enough to wrap and tie around the garland and the banister.

    • 3

Tie a piece of ribbon around the garland and banister at each end. Find the midpoint of the banister. With another piece of ribbon, tie the middle of the garland's drape to the middle of the banister. You should have two even drapes from end to end.

    • 4

Measure half way between one end and the middle ribbon. Tie this new midpoint to the banister with a piece of ribbon. Repeat this for the other half. You will have four drapes in the garland. If your banister is extra long, continue tying the garland to it in the middle of the larger drapes.

Choose ornaments for the garland. Berries, colored leaves, bells, stars, and glass bulbs fit into garland. Look for items that have holes ready for hanging. Cut about 5 inches of floral wire for each item. Thread the wire through the hole, twist it to keep the ornament in place, and tie it to the garland where desired. For berries and leaves, twist one end of the wire tightly around the stems, and then attach them to the garland.
