Instructions

    • 1

Add a knight helm stencil above the boy's bed and a princess crown above the girl's bed. Select a blue, red or black color for the knight helm and a pink or purple for the girl's crown. Remember, however, that the room colors must complement each other so ensure the colors coordinate given the shared space.

    • 2

Select knight-inspired bedding and set it up on the boy's bed. Images of castles, fighting knights, slaying dragons and other medieval and knight-like imagery will fulfill his knight dreams. Repeat the process for the girl's bed, selecting dancing princesses or crown and heart bedding.

Add an occasional chair to the side of each bed and an appropriately themed rug. The occasional chair can have throw pillows added with imagery and print similar to the bedding. The rug should merge the boy's preference with the girl's preference and have a royal theme. In a rug you are not looking for just knights or just princess related items but rather a royal theme with designs such as a prince and princess or a knight rescuing a princess.

Keep the furnishings in the room, such as the table and the wardrobe, a plain white. Add plastic knobs and other hardware with colors reflecting the colors of the bedding. You can also add brass hardware for a more regal approach.
