How to Decorate Alpine Chic

Alpine chic, also known as rustic chic, is a mixture of old-school style and new charm. Basically, it's a lumberjack cabin with a modern woman's touch. While anyone living anywhere may choose to decorate in Alpine chic, the decor should have the ambiance of a mountain or country home. It also should have a relaxing atmosphere of wanting to curl up with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate on a rainy or snowy winter day.

  • Animal print, earth-tone area rugs
  • Wood floors
  • Reclaimed wood paneling or neutral, warm-color paint

Instructions

    • 1
A wood cabin gives the warm feeling of Alpine chic.

Lay area rugs on top of wood floors. The rugs should include animal prints and designs that have earthy tones such as browns and off-whites.

Apply reclaimed wood paneling to walls, or apply a neutral, warm-color paint such as beige or sage. Hang paintings and framed photographs of nature and animals. Create a natural, earthy feeling by using wood frames.

A wood-frame bed with a soft bedspread is Alpine chic style.

Place furniture that includes exposed wood in the home. The furniture may incorporate wood, such as a sofa with wood legs or sides, or a bed with a wood headboard. Arrange seating in a semi-circular pattern in large areas, such as the couch flanked by angled armchairs in the family room, to further enhance coziness.

A vase helps to accessorize the look of Alpine chic.

Apply soft accent colors with various decor in the home. An example is a light mint green or purple bedspread or duvet. Sofa accent pillows could be rustic orange and vases in an off-white, soft green or blue tone.
