Cute Ways to Design Adult Girl Rooms

Society sometimes dictates that you can't indulge in cute decor as you age. Some women never get over their desire to have a house full of interesting and endearing designs. Don't let social misconceptions about adult female behavior stop you from giving your room a cute and youthful design you can enjoy.
  1. Dollhouse Design

    • The dollhouse-style bedroom isn't only for younger girls. Women can create an interesting -- albeit more mature -- dream-home dollhouse theme for their rooms and pull it off well. Aim for furniture that has an antiquated feel, such as a vanity with the round mirror or a sitting stool. Choose light colors for your furniture, such as cream wood with a golden border. Choose fabrics with lots of lacy frills. Match your accent pieces with your furniture as well. For example, set out antique hand mirrors on your vanity and cover your bed with decorative pillows. Cheery floral prints work well in this type of room.

    Polka Dot Madness

    • If you prefer the progressive style of bedroom that borders on the modern side, consider a polka dot theme for your room. Choose linens with brightly colors dots in varying sizes. Circular furniture such as nightstands and short sitting pillows also go well for the design. Consider repainting the walls of the room to match your design choice. Use light colors on the walls so you can paint over them if you change your mind about your design choice, though.

    Childhood Reminders

    • You can introduce some of your favorite childhood decor into your room tastefully. For example, if you had a favorite stuffed rabbit as a child, keep it prominently displayed on your bed along with your decorative pillows. Hang some pictures of your childhood friends as well. Consider putting other childhood artifacts in the room such as an old blanket folded at the foot of your bed. Don't go overboard, though. Keep the stuffed animals down to three at the most, or guests may feel a little uncomfortable when they see your room.

    Bold and Beautiful

    • You may think that bold, funky colors are only acceptable for eccentric teen bedrooms, but they actually work well for more mature women. The bright colors get you moving in the morning and leave you feeling energized anytime you enter the room. Consider colors such as bright green and pink to mix. Don't be afraid to experiment with colors you wouldn't normally consider combining. Use interesting, bulky decor for your room because it will match the funky colors well. For example, select a rug with a splattered shape instead of a simple circular or square rug.
