Instructions

    • 1

Paint the walls a deep color of green such as forest green. This color echoes the color of the trees and meadows of the fox hunts. Choose tan, beige, brown or burgundy as your accent colors; these are the colors that people typically associate with the riding costumes people wear as they hunt.

    • 2

Decoupage a wall with images of the fox hunt. Choose old newspaper clippings or illustrations from antique catalogs. Photocopy the images if you don't have enough to cover a full wall. You'll use these images to create a wallpaper effect on this wall.

    • 3

Choose furniture pieces made from leather and velveteen.

    • 4

Create a focal point for the room by emphasizing a fireplace or built-in bookcase. Hang oil paintings of fox hunts above the fireplace and decorate the space around the paintings with wrought-iron candle sconces. Display hunting trophies and photographs of past hunts on the shelves of the bookcase. Buy books bound in leather or faux leather to put on the shelves. Choose bookends that feature horses or foxes.

    • 5

Lay down a rug that's a contrasting color to the carpet beneath such as the forest green and burgundy painted on the walls. Place this in front of the room's focal point.

    • 6

Position a leather couch and two armchairs with wool fabric around the rug. Add throw pillows made of velveteen and wool on the couch. Choose pillows with traditional patterns such as plaids, stripes and paisleys.

    • 7

Decorate a corner of the room with a mannequin that you dress in a traditional fox hunting outfit. Include the long boots, red waist coat and black hat. Place a riding crop under the mannequin's arm. Display an old riding saddle near the fox hunting outfit. Include a fox hunting brass horn, which is a type of bugle, nearby.

    • 8

Hang brown or burgundy velvet curtains on the window. For a lighter look, choose toile-patterned curtains with images of fox hunts on them. Choose a pattern that's stamped in a traditional fox hunting color such a green, red or black.
