How to Decorate a Room in Navy & White Polka Dots

Polka-dot decor can be simple and classic, reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn and pearls, or bold and dramatic. Perhaps the most classic rendition of polka dots is white on navy blue. This can give a room a neat, tidy and slightly retro look. If you want to perk it up a bit, try complementing this scheme with carefully chosen colors and patterns. Bright red and yellow are traditional choices, but you can try something unexpected, as well, such as chartreuse, teal or burnt orange. Whatever you decide to do, play with the colors and patterns to come up with a final look that's decidedly you.

Paint three walls a pristine white. Paint the fourth wall navy blue, and stencil in white polka dots. This will be your feature wall. Alternatively, use polka-dot wallpaper on that fourth wall. add navy blue and white polka dot wallpaper. On just one wall, the polka dots won't overpower the room. For a more dramatic look, consider painting all four walls navy and stenciling the fourth wall with medium-size white polka dots. To keep the look from becoming overbearing, paint the woodwork white and add white blinds or curtains.
