Earth

• The element of earth can be represented in your home by items that have earth tones, such as brown and yellow. Also, objects made from the Earth, such as ceramic or terra-cotta objects, help activate Earth energy. Having these items in the southwest portion of a room helps encourage energy important for relationships.

Wood

• Wood is the element that brings creative energy to your home. In the eastern portion of your home, furniture made from wood or things that are green help to represent this element in the space. The type of wood also matters. Hardwoods, like oak, represent a stronger energy, while softer woods represent adaptability and pliability.

Water

• To attract wealth into your life, you need to ensure that the water element is adequately represented in the home. A water feature can obviously represent water, but so can a mirror or art that mirrors the shape of waves or represents water. Dark blue fabrics and art also call forth water energy. Water should be placed in the north or the east.

Fire

• Fire is represented by the color red and by objects that produce heat. For instance, a stove or fireplace or a candle could represent fire. Fire should not be placed near your water elements without another element between them to disrupt the energy conflict. Fire brings excitement and transformation energy.

Metal

• The final of the five elements is metal. Any metal can represent this element, but the two best options are gold and pewter. Metal objects should not have sharp corners if at all possible. Protection is represented by metal. In a room with too much wood, metal provides a way to balance the energy.
